Dr.Norman Baker promotes his cures TO CANCER SUFFERS

CANCER IS CURABLE BY BAKER TREATMENTS
Horrific images of persons suffering from advanced cancer are seen in these uploaded images from the promotional materials that he produced. He draws attention to MEN! The horrible disfigured man seen in the photo below , we learn from Dr.Baker is that he was a patient who just had a small sore or pimple at first , it would not heal and grew larger and larger. He went to his family Dr. who recommended operations and radium treatments.

Dr. Baker believed that these treatments "scattered the cancer" spreading it and making it worse, Ina addition, the mans eye became affected and had to be removed as it had become a solid cancerous mass .The hand seen is another example from Dr. Baker where a pimple grew out of control into a tumor.

Baker repeatably stated that he would NEVER use Radium or radiation treatment as part of his plan. Why? He firmly believed that it was harmful to the body. There is a wealth of information on radiation that it can in fact spread or "scatter" cancer cells , as Baker claimed . We read,

"Treatment May Fuel Cancer's Spread

Treating cancer with surgery, chemotherapy or radiation may sometimes cause tumors to spread, researchers say.
Tests in mice show that using the chemotherapy drug doxorubicin or radiation both raised levels of TGF-beta, which in turn helped breast cancer tumors spread to the lung."rense.com

These are extremely frightening images, even today. The "Baker cure, or Treatment" has not been fully understood. There is not any documentation to what he actually used. There are however many folk tales and rumor. From reading his life story, from Alwin Winston we learn that Baker was deeply superstitious of the medical profession by large. He know a bit about what he didn't use however and that he advocated, fresh air, believing that the environment that the patient inhabited greatly effected his odds of a recovery. Another innovative idea at the time, yet proven true today.
Used the color purple in Treatment plan
He firmly argued that the medical profession did not want a cure for cancer, as cancer was far too profitable . He implemented music and even color therapy of sorts. Purple his favorite color, was used threw out the Baker Hospital for its healing properties.

"It has been known for eons of time that color plays a major role in setting up a particular mood or state of mind. Color does affect one's feelings, moods, and emotions." colortherapy

Purple is traditionally known to be the color of spirituality .
"Leonardo da Vinci proclaimed that you can increase the power of meditation ten-fold by meditating under the gentle rays of Violet, as found in Church windows."

It more importantly the color PURPLE "... slow down an over-active heart; stimulate[s] the spleen and the white blood cells (immunity)."
colortherapy

Clearly there is much research today about the healing powers of color, yet at the time of Baker , he was certainly ahead of his time, he drove a purple car, had the CRESCENT HOTEL painted purple, and wore a lavender shirt under his white lab coat nearly daily. He was thought mad, and this little quirk , is still found to be assuming to this day and used as evidence that he was in fact nothing more than a quack.

Baker encouraged his patients to bring there own clothes and their fiddle, to play chess and watch movies. Baker used the luxury resort of the CRESCENT HOTEL for his patients because it made one feel special, not sick. These tactics make sense.

There are also reports, that Baker used a mixture of pain reliving drugs, such as from the opiate family, readily available at the time, mixed with corn hair husks and water melon seeds. I was told this during my HAUNTED GHOST TOUR at the CRESCENT HOTEL by our guide, and came across something similar during internet research. As I went to the Eureka springs library and consumed every thing in its archives, and realizing that there is not that much information documented about Baker, I wonder where this information was obtained. YET first I will research the values of these two ingredients, from the get go I know that the American Indians used corn husk silk as a medicine. I have learned that WATERMELON

"Like most fruits and vegetables, watermelon is loaded with cancer fighting antioxidants. It works to fight free radicals, thereby reducing cancer risk. Watermelon is particularly useful in fighting colon cancer, perhaps due to it's cleansing effect. It's quite high in lycopene,..."associatedcontent.com

"Watermelon is also a rich source of lycopene, a carotenoid that has been linked extensively to improvements in heart health and risk reductions for a range of certain cancers. "nutraingredients

Interesting that what Baker is claimed to have used, always in a derogatory manner, as in the Ghost tour, and web sites , to prove his insanity, that he used purple as a healing agent, "How absurd!" believed that radium spread cancer cells, weakening their integrity, that a good psychological environment was essential to recovery and that one of his alleged treatments included watermelon seeds, all to support "what a nut!A true quack"

Most of the images of the people suffering from cancer are post radiation treatment. As we can see from this 2009 picture of a breast cancer radiation treatment the results nearly 70 years later have not much changed

The radiotherapy treatment was administered to the chest wall, including the right of the right breast indicating the presence of residual tumor..this treatment did not benefit the patient. burntreatment

From the documentation available many thousands of people thought that Bakers medical ideology made sense and were willing to put their life in his hand as seen in this photo where over 32,000 people were reported to have attended an "outdoor operation" of a skull removal.

First Visit to the CRESCENT HOTEL

My girls and I were charmed when we went to visit the Crescent in March of 2010. This is a video that I took that shows our impressions and views. As it is we did return this summer, rented a room 316 for two nights and our experiences there, inspired this blog.
